Our selection of hidden gems

Located in the heart of the Antilles islands, warm and welcoming Saint Lucia offers visitors a wide variety of landscapes and activities. From hikes in the wilderness to dream beaches and a taste of Creole culture, follow our tips to make the most of your break in Saint Lucia, one of the most stunning stop-offs on a trip to the Caribbean.

8:00 am – Discover the sumptuous Marigot Bay

Day breaks over Saint Lucia… In Marigot, a charming bay on the west coast of the island, palm trees bow in the breeze and the waters dazzle with turquoise reflections. This is the perfect time to sip fresh juice while listening to the sound of the warblers. And to remember that before being a popular destination for holidaymakers, Marigot was a major point of contention between the British and French navies… in the 18th century. Why? Because it was easy to hide there and prepare an ambush. Today, while the frigates have given way to yachts, the bay has lost none of its secret charm, in the heart of lush vegetation.

10:00 am – Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of Canaries

From Marigot, a small road leads you from hill to hill to Canariesa fishing port. Here, there are few hotels, and no bars: Creole authenticity takes precedence. A golden opportunity to stroll down narrow little streets, admire colourful houses and discover a typically Caribbean atmosphere. And don’t forget to be surprised by the beautiful views that unfold over the rooftops. Why not head down to the beach to soak up the picturesque yellow and red boats of local fishermen?

Noon – Travel back in time at the Morne Coubaril plantation

Nestled north of Soufrière Bay, the Morne Coubaril plantation welcomes in curious visitors to learn more about the history of the Caribbean. The line-up here includes a tour of a sumptuous Creole-style house, a walk around the lush gardens, and the opportunity to discover how cocoa and coconut are grown. The restaurant offers a delicious selection of local recipes accompanied by juice freshly squeezed from fruit from the garden.

2:00 pm – Discover the Pitons or explore the seabed

Are you brave enough to tackle the climb up the Petit or Gros Piton? These two iconic volcanic plugs offer superb hiking opportunities in the heart of an area that has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004. Be careful, though! Expect a few hours of climbing in the heart of lush nature! If you prefer a more peaceful activity, a flippered excursion along the shoreline is an equally enjoyable option, taking in a beautiful reef where preserved marine life abounds.

6:00 pm – Admire the Diamond Falls Botanical Garden

At Diamond Falls, the garden is surrounded by a delightful waterfall. Walk quietly down the garden paths and admire the most beautiful specimens of Caribbean flora while listening to the sound of water flow… Depending on the season, you can enjoy the flamboyance of the hibiscus flowers or the geometric showiness of the canna lilies. The grounds are also an opportunity to treat yourself to thermal treatments with volcanic mineral water: a health-boosting break in the heart of nature.

8:00 pm – Enjoy the charm of Soufrière as the sun sets

Saint Lucia’s former capital, the little town of Soufrière is tinged with old world charm, and has a decidedly relaxed atmosphere typical of the Antilles. The early evening is the perfect time to stroll down its narrow little streets, stopping off for fresh-caught fish for dinner. And as the bay faces west, it’s also the best place on the island to admire the shimmering dusk colours.
