Ballet on the waves of the Aegean Sea

For Eugénie Drion, travelling and dancing are both natural, organic experiences and blessings. This emotional proximity between dance and travel gave rise to the idea of a unique artistic project at sea.

Act 1: a nice surprise

Eugénie’s first long experience at sea was on board the Lyrial. It was a very special trip shared with her family to celebrate her grandmother’s birthday. For the young woman, the sensations she experienced on this Aegean cruise are similar to those she feels every day when she dances. During the trip, the artist and her sister met with the CEO of the PONANT company. Their lengthy and fascinating discussions led to the emergence of a collaborative project between the dancer and her sister (a film director), and PONANT!

Act 2: unforgettable filming!

The artistic residency project on Le Bougainville has now come to fruition. For this superb experience, Eugénie was accompanied by her sister, in charge of filming, and two other dancers. Day after day, the little troupe worked on mastering the wonderful sensation of dancing on the waves, until they were ready to offer the passengers a surprise: a dance show, right there on the Bougainville’s marina! It was a moment suspended in time and full of emotion for the dancer, who performed with compelling intensity.
