The glacier of extremes<\/h3>\n

Perito Moreno is\u00a0<\/span>the \u201cliveliest\u201d glacier\u00a0<\/span><\/strong>in\u00a0<\/span>Patagonia<\/a>: it\u2019s constantly moving on Argentino Lake at a rate of around two metres, or 6\u20197\u2033 a day. The\u00a0<\/span>incredible geology<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>of this glacier is often mentioned as it\u2019s over 30 km\/19 miles long, 5 km\/3 miles wide and offers ice walls of over 60 m\/198\u00a0feet high. Whether you discover it on foot or by small boat, the spectacle remains truly unique as Perito Moreno\u2019s appearance changes a little each day.<\/p>\n

<\/span>Regularly, about every 4 years, the extremity of the moving glacier bangs into the Pen\u00ednsula Magallanes, so separating Argentino Lake into two parts. The side called \u201cBrazo Rico\u201d fills up, putting pressure on the underside of the glacier until it floods into the main part of the lake. This is the \u201crupture\u201d: an<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>extremely impressive natural phenomenon<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>for those who are lucky enough to be close by at the right time.<\/span><\/p>\n

Infinite shades of blue<\/h3>\n

With its\u00a0<\/span>dizzying peaks<\/strong>, mysterious caves and impressive crevasses, the\u00a0<\/span>Perito Moreno<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>glacier makes us revise our synonyms: the word \u201cblue\u201d will not be enough to describe all the shades that you can see in it. From the lightest, nearly translucent, to the darkest, the blue highlights\u00a0<\/span>the contrasts of an element in all its states<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With a blue which is both transparent and deep, the n\u00e9v\u00e9 expels air from the glacier, under the pressure of accumulated snowfalls.\u00a0<\/span>Veritable columns of ice<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>rise up on the glacier like sculpted walls, and you can regularly hear sections of ice coming away: a completely unforgettable\u00a0<\/span>sensory journey<\/strong>. One of those moments where you can only bow before the beauty of the elements.<\/p>\n
