In Europe, the brown bear prevails, in particular near the Austrian and Slovenian Alps. Finally, Latin America is home to one of the most astonishing subspecies of the Ursus genus: the spectacled bear. Recognisable by their two-tone muzzle, they are extremely rare, although you can try to catch a glimpse of them near Santa Lucia in Ecuador where they live with exotic fauna including Choco toucans and cotingas.

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” background_enable_color=”off” background_enable_image=”off” width=”100%” width_tablet=”” width_phone=”” width_last_edited=”on|phone” max_width=”1000px” module_alignment=”center” custom_padding=”2px||5px||false|false” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” background_enable_color=”off” background_enable_image=”off” background_size=”contain” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_image src=”https://escales.ponant.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/02/Ours-a-lunettes-e1561710888565.jpg” alt=”Andean bear” title_text=”Andean bear” align=”center” _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” global_colors_info=”{}”][/et_pb_image][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row column_structure=”2_5,3_5″ admin_label=”MEA – decalage” _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” max_width=”1000px” custom_padding=”50px||50px||true|false” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_column type=”2_5″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” background_enable_color=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” header_2_font=”|300|on||||||” header_2_text_align=”left” header_2_text_color=”#ffffff” header_2_line_height=”1.4em” background_color=”#307f90″ custom_margin=”|-30%|||false|false” custom_margin_tablet=”|0%|||false|false” custom_margin_phone=”” custom_margin_last_edited=”on|tablet” custom_padding=”30px|75%|30px|20px|true|false” custom_padding_tablet=”|20px|||true|false” custom_padding_phone=”” custom_padding_last_edited=”on|tablet” global_colors_info=”{}”]

To find out more, watch/read:

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”3_5″ _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” background_enable_color=”off” global_colors_info=”{}”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.16″ _module_preset=”default” background_color=”#f7f7f7″ custom_margin=”50px|||-25%|false|false” custom_margin_tablet=”0px|||0%|false|false” custom_margin_phone=”” custom_margin_last_edited=”on|desktop” custom_padding=”40px|40px|40px|40px|true|true” custom_padding_tablet=”|20px||20px|true|true” custom_padding_phone=”” custom_padding_last_edited=”on|tablet” global_colors_info=”{}”]

The book The Bear: History of a Fallen King by Michel Pastoureau, about the symbolic figure of the bear in Europe.
