Hurling, camogie and Gaelic football are all good excuses to come together with friends and family. In Dublin, you can also visit the historic home of Gaelic culture with a trip to<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Croke Park<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">Green, green, and yet more green!<\/h3>\n<p>One country that has been going green since time immemorial is Ireland, and this luscious natural heritage is felt in its city centres, too. As the bigger of the two, Dublin naturally offers the most greenery, from the sweeping<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Phoenix Park<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>(twice the size of New York\u2019s Central Park!) to the Victorian<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>St Stephen\u2019s Green<\/strong>, one of the city centre\u2019s best-loved attractions. The lesser-known<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Iveagh<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>Gardens are just as lovely, with their lawns, fountains and waterfalls.<\/p>\n<p>But Cork has just as much to offer, with its tree-lined<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Bishop Lucey Park<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>and the gorgeous<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Fitzgerald Park<\/strong>, which is the city\u2019s biggest park offering a pleasant stroll along the banks of the Lee. The food in Ireland is good. In fact, it\u2019s very good! When in the capital, follow Dublin girl Molly Malone\u2019s advice and savour some mussels and cockles. You can also try<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>coddle<\/strong>, a stew-like dish with sausages, bacon, potatoes and onions, which is a real winter classic in Dublin.<\/p>\n<p>Cork, meanwhile, favours<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>drisheen<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>or<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>black pudding<\/strong>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Durrus cheese<\/strong>, and the intriguing<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>crubeens<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>(boiled pigs\u2019 feet that are then battered and fried). It is also renowned for the quality of its produce and cuisine, and is home to the<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>English Market<\/strong>, a veritable institution in its own right, founded in 1788 and now a foodie\u2019s paradise.<\/p>\n<p>Whether you go for the eastern vibrancy of Dublin or the chilled southern atmosphere of Cork, we can promise you one thing: you won\u2019t want to leave.
