Dress in white in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro \u2013 Brazil<\/h3>\n

In Rio de Janeiro, starting in the morning of 31 December, mingle with the Cariocas who head to\u00a0<\/span>Copacabana beach<\/b>\u00a0dressed in white for good luck, to deliver offerings to Iemanj\u00e1, the pale-skinned, black-haired goddess of the sea. Brazilians come to place petals, jewellery, mirrors, perfumes and other personal items in small home-made boats. The long, uninterrupted parade takes place against a backdrop of prayers and music until the final\u00a0<\/span>12 chimes of midnight<\/b>\u00a0that herald a spectacular firework display.
