Uxmal \u2013 intact<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Situated in the north-west of the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/en.ponant.com\/catalogsearch\/result\/?q=Yucatan#advanced_search\" rel=\"noopener\">Mexican province<\/a>, the site known as<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Uxmal<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>is intriguing due to its state of preservation. Its ancient ruins are more than 1,000 years old, yet they feature<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>architectural details<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>which are still preserved.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From the fa\u00e7ades of its<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Palace of the Governors<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>to the sides of its pyramid, you\u2019re drawn in and captivated. You almost feel as though you\u2019re in the presence of the thousands of souls who once lived in the city-state. Explorers will get the chance to meet<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Chaac<\/strong>, the serpent deity of the rain. Chichen Itza \u2013 emblematic<\/h3>\n<p>In the region\u2019s north, you get to<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Chichen Itza<\/strong><span>\u00a0<\/span>to find yourself in a familiar place. You already know this site without ever having set foot there. Why?<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>El Castillo<\/strong>, its pyramid that, because of being highlighted by thousands of guides and appearing in all of the documentaries on the subject, has ended up becoming the symbol of Mexican<span>\u00a0<\/span><strong>Mayan heritage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>But again, nothing is as good as the real experience. Enormous and imposing, the building was constructed in homage to the Mayan calendar. At its base, the ball game area recalls the civilisation\u2019s thirst for human sacrifice. Built atop a rocky outcrop, this site is among the most recent (between 1200 and 1500 AD). It was a\u00a0<\/span><strong>port city<\/strong><span>\u00a0lying on a shore of turquoise water and a white sand beach. The little sites strewn around it (Sayil, Xlapak, Kabah and Labna) are all evidence of the\u00a0<\/span><strong>architecture<\/strong><span>\u00a0called the\u00a0<\/span><strong>Puuc style<\/strong><span>. Elongated buildings and sculptured stones with enormous mosaics embedded into the walls. For this reason, a stop at\u00a0<\/span><strong>Kabah<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span>with its 300 masks of Chaac is a must.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column
