The <b>cocoa tree<\/b> is therefore known as the <b>\u2018cacahuaquchchtl\u2019<\/b>, or \u2018tree of the Maya gods\u2019. Maya peoples and travellers organised rituals in his honour to gain his protection while they were away from home. <b>Cocoa<\/b> is also an important feature in some important life milestones <b>linked to Maya rituals<\/b>. We know, for example, that a rabbit costs 10 beans, an earthen pot between 12 and 25 beans. <b>Cocoa<\/b> is also used for its <b>medicinal properties<\/b>, Maya people realised its revitalising qualities, and they use it to <b>reduce indigestion<\/b>, coughs, burns, and even stomach aches. It is now well-known that cocoa is a <b>source of antioxidants<\/b> that provides energy. This is where the best beans in the world are grown! Like the <b>white <\/b><b><i>Criollo <\/i><\/b><b>beans<\/b>, from the \u201cprince of cocoa trees\u201d. These were discovered by the Spanish conquistadors in the 16th century and produce <b>the finest and most aromatic cocoa<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p><b>In Tikul<\/b>, in Yucat\u00e1n State, Mexico, efforts are being made to protect the ancestral but fragile <i>Criollo<\/i> tree on a nearly <b>300-hectare plantation<\/b>. Visitors can <b>discover the history of cocoa<\/b> and local Maya culture at the eco-museum. And the<a href=\"https:\/\/escales.ponant.com\/les-plus-belles-haciendas-du-yucatan-mexique\/\"> cocoa haciendas<\/a> are also open to visitors in Tabasco State. Hacienda de la Luz is one of the country\u2019s most important. <b>MUCHO<\/b>, <b>Mexico\u2019s chocolate museum<\/b>, is also well worth a visit, celebrating the precious treat in all its forms.
