Listening to the wildlife of the Great Lakes<\/strong><\/h3>\n
Listen carefully, because the animals of the Great Lakes can often be recognised by hearing before they are seen! This region is the setting for a far from silent spectacle. \u201cIn the northern forest, you\u2019ll hear birds including green woodpeckers<\/strong>, as well as squirrels<\/strong>, the sound of wind in the trees\u2026<\/em>\u201d explains Jos\u00e9 Sarica. The language of the moose<\/strong> (Alces alces), a giant of the northern forest, is known to include a wide range of different calls. As for the caribou<\/strong>, although they are mostly silent, they can nevertheless let out very loud grunts.
